Minority Leader Waller's Statement on final passage of the Budget DENVER—Minority Leader Mark Waller , R-Colorado Springs, released the following statement today, after House Democrats voted to strip $3 millio n to fund merit-based scholarships from Colorado's budget: "I can't understand, for the life of me, why so me Democrats would put their political agenda above good public policy. Throughout the budget debate, House Republicans have worked hard to offer constructive input on ways we can improve the budget and strengthen Co lorado, but Democrats have repeatedly shown they are more interested in playing partisan games with taxpayer dollars. Unfortunately, this time, their partisanship cost Colorado's best and brightest students millions of dollars in scholarship money."
